Greetings, As the Skills Symposium draws near, I'm excited to extend a warm invitation to join us from June 24th to 28th in the vibrant Twin Cities of St. Paul, Minnesota. The Skills Symposium holds a special place in my heart. It was during the Foundations Training at the March 2020 Symposium that I embarked on a transformative journey. Little did I know then that this week would coincide with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, forever etching itself in my memory. As we navigated those uncertain times together, forging connections that transcended mere professional engagements, I witnessed the seeds of leadership being sown among us. Many of those present have since stepped into roles of chapter leadership, assumed positions on the IAP2 Board, or continued to champion participatory practices throughout the nation. Though much has evolved since that pivotal moment, the spirit of camaraderie and connection remains steadfast. Thanks to the unwavering support of the IAP2 community, these connections have not only endured but have thrived and expanded. The Skills Symposium offers a unique opportunity to deepen bonds within our professional network. Its structured format enables participants to tailor their experience by selecting from a diverse range of training sessions, each designed to address specific interests and skill sets. Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or just embarking on your public participation journey, there's something for everyone. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Midwest Chapter and our partners at MnDOT for their invaluable contributions in bringing this event to fruition and providing enriching opportunities for our members. IAP2 USA Core Values Awards 2024 Application Deadline May 15 IAP2 USA wants to recognize your achievements with our Core Values Awards.
Share your inspiring projects. Show us you have created positive change, built trust, and engaged your local community in public participation. Core Value Awards applications are due May 15, 2024. New Application Process for Project Entries This year we have an exciting new application process for Core Values Awards Project entries. We are piloting a Case Study Format for General Project, Creativity and Innovation and the Respect for Diversity, Inclusion, and Culture Awards. A Case Study Template is currently in use by IAP2 Australasia and IAP2 Canada in their Core Values Application process. Switching to this format provides a valued resource to IAP2 members in the form of viewable case studies, it aligns us with the other organizations, and it offers a more streamlined and inclusive application process. IAP2 USA's Professional Certification Apply by May 10th
The next Certification Assessment Center deadline has been extended.
Here is an outline of the Certification Process, but the full details can be found here. ***Prerequisite: Completion of all three IAP2 Global Certificate courses and receipt of the IAP2 Global Certificate of Completion in Public Participation. ***

IAP2 USA Young Professionals Group Cup of Tea Virtual Networking Event
Our new Young Professionals Group is hosting their second Cup of Tea Virtual Networking event. Thursday, May 23, 2024
These semi-regular Cup of Tea virtual gatherings are a great opportunity for young professionals to build community connections through establishing meaningful relationships with other young professionals. Join us for casual and fun conversation and connecting! We invite all young professionals to join us by signing up for our email list by filling out this from and registering for the event here. Anyone who self identifies as a Young Professional early in their public practitioner career or who is under the age of 35 is welcome! These gatherings will offer community and support for participants and be a great way to empower the young professionals in Public Participation!

IAP2's Fundamentals of Public Participation May 15 & 16 Fundamentals of Public Participation First course to be taken before Designing Public Participation and Applying Methods. Once all three are completed you will receive a Global Certificate in Public Participation
The focus of this course is on understanding and applying the practices of meaningful and effective P2 and what participants need to know to do this well.
