Nelvis Alvarez

Public Engagement Manager - City of Greeley, Colorado

Nelvis Alvarez is a seasoned community engagement strategist with a B.A. in Sociology and over two decades of experience connecting residents, local government, and community organizations. Throughout her career, she has focused on fostering inclusion, trust, and authentic dialogue between institutions and the people they serve.

Before joining the City of Greeley, Nelvis brought visibility to underrepresented voices as producer and moderator of "Comunidad al Día con Nelvis Alvarez" on Denver Community TV, then as co-anchor of “Hablando con la Comunidad,” the first Spanish-language program aired on an English-language station in West Palm Beach, Florida (WPTV). She also served as a weekly content expert for Telemundo’s “Buenos Días Miami,” where she shared practical guidance on employability and life skills for Latino audiences, and frequent guest on Univision and several Spanish radio stations.

Beyond her media work, Nelvis has served on the boards of Denver Community Television, the Life Skills Center of Denver, and Proyecto Nosotros, a nonprofit dedicated to health education. Her background spans education, nonprofit leadership, and public sector engagement, always centered on helping people feel seen, heard, and empowered. Her work continues to reflect a deep belief that genuine connection is the foundation of thriving communities and effective governance.
