Why Attend this year's IAP2 USA Annual General Membership Meeting on June 11?

For most nonprofit organizations, the annual meeting is the time for evaluating the organization's progress towards its mission and for setting goals for the upcoming year. Not only does it provide a chance to come together with other members, IAP2 leadership and staff to learn more about the direction of your organization but it’s also a time to share your ideas and priorities for the association. This year, the agenda includes a chance to provide input for the next round of strategic planning. It will also offer some fun engagement opportunities for members to connect, share, and learn together.

Don’t miss your opportunity to impact your profession, your community, and your association by participating in this year’s annual meeting.

Not able to attend, or want to share your thoughts ahead of time? Share your ideas and insights today by participating in the Strategic Plan Engagement Survey.

UN Sustainable Development Goals Public Participation Survey

In the realm of sustainable development, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) play a crucial role in guiding global efforts. Amongst these goals, SDG 11 specifically focuses on making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. Target 11.3, a key component of this goal, emphasizes enhancing inclusive and sustainable urbanization through participatory and integrated human settlement planning. At the heart of this target lies Indicator 11.3.2, which gauges the proportion of cities with a direct participation of civil society in urban planning and management that operates regularly and democratically. Preserving this indicator is essential for several reasons.

    • It focuses on the active engagement of all stakeholders in the development of sustainable human settlements, giving special attention to vulnerable groups.
    • It promotes civic and human rights education, making urban residents aware of their rights and roles in urban settings.
    • It calls for the removal of barriers to the participation of socially marginalized groups, ensuring non-discrimination and full and equal participation.

As we progress towards 2030, the preservation of SDG 11.3.2 becomes increasingly crucial for fostering sustainable urban environments and realizing the broader vision of inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities worldwide. The indicator's periodic monitoring ensures that governments and stakeholders remain accountable for promoting structures that facilitate direct, regular, and democratic civil society participation in urban planning and management.

With this survey, you will be able to:

    • Report and monitor participation in urban planning and management in your city.
    • Get your score and compare it with different stakeholders in your city.
    • Visualize scores from cities worldwide and compare it to your own.
    • Help UN-Habitat measure the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) implementation at the city level.
Help preserve this indicator and continue to have it in the Global Goals Database by filling the survey below:
