Upcoming Training

Aligning with Shared Vision and Values for Equity

These days, a lot of people are talking about equity. Equity relates directly to our work and while many people believe it is important to "do equity" in public participation, many people understand or define it differently.

Join this learning series with Dr. Cori Wong and Positive Philosophy Consulting to build a strong, grounded understanding of equity, and how to genuinely incorporate it into your work.

There will be two parts to this workshop as described below. Attendance at the first session is a pre-requisite for the second.

Training Details
Part 1: October 9, 2023 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Zoom
Part 2: October 18, 2023 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Zoom
Price: $25 for IAP2 members and $35 for nonmembers

If payment is a barrier but you would like to attend, email coloradochapteriap2@gmail.com to ask about our learning scholarship.
To request language interpretation for Session 1, email coloradochapteriap2@gmail.com by October 1, 2023.

October 9, 2023 11a-1p | Session 1: Aligning with Shared Vision and Values for Equity

To effectively promote more equitable outcomes, it’s necessary to start with a shared understanding of what ‘equity’ means and requires in practice. Whether you consider yourself a curious ally or committed advocate, this session is an important starting place for any process of transformation. In this 2-hour session, participants can expect to learn and engage around the following topics:

  • Creating a vision of liberation
  • A robust working description of equity
  • The importance of intersectionality (beyond identities)
  • Equity questions to inform process and projects

October 18 11a-1230p | Session 2: Aligning with Shared Vision and Values for Equity

After a week to absorb the information shared in session 1, join this follow up dialog with fellow practitioners to grow your understanding of key concepts, and further build shared understanding of 'equity' in the process and outcomes of your work.
