Where do students fit in?

IAP2 USA strongly believes IAP2's Core Values are reflected by the students we see today. Not only do we want to offer this scholarship program as a means to assist students in their academic endeavors, we also want to include students in our vision where public participation is deeply embedded and widely applied, and where equitable, efficient, and informed decision-making processes improve the quality of our demcracy. We developed this program with the following objectives in mind:

  •   To support and encourage emerging practitioners
  •    Educate about the value and use of public participation
  •    Raise the visibility of the profession
  •    Encourage student membership
  •    Build relationships with higher education institutions
  •    Stimulate learning in the field of public participation
  •    Support the ongoing vitality and sustainability of our organization as service to our mission
  •    Provide continued support and networking opportunity to awardees

In selecting finalists and the final awardees, reviewers are asked to factor geographic diversity into their decisions (based on location of college or university) and will also prioritize those who have not previously received a scholarship from IAP2 USA or an IAP2 USA chapter. A round of interviews will be conducted with top candidates by phone or video conference. Winners will be notified of the awards by April 1st, 2017
