The Little Hoover Commission is California’s independent oversight agency. The Commission researches and investigates state government operations and policy, and makes recommendations to the Governor and Legislature to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of state government.

The new Communications and Outreach Analyst will assist in all efforts to communicate the Commission’s work to external audiences and to implement its report recommendations.
 
Under the supervision of the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director, though operating with substantial independence, the Communications and Outreach Analyst will:

  • Write a variety of documents intended to communicate the Commission’s work to external audiences, including blog posts, press releases, and similar documents.
  • Promote the Commission’s recommendations to the Legislature and other policymakers.
  • Meet with stakeholder groups in policy areas on which the Commission has made recommendations.
  • Manage the Commission’s website and efforts to communicate about its work.
  • Format Commission reports, issue briefs, and other documents, and assist in the visual design of Commission documents.
  • Develop data visualization graphics for use in Commission products.
  • Track legislation and other initiatives that would implement Commission recommendations.

Salary Range:
$5,518.00 - $6,907.00
