Young Voices, Future Choices
Presented by Heather Coston and Addie Shrodes

Young people make up a third of the region’s population, and will be the stewards of the future. To ensure they have a seat at the decision making table, Metro is developing an engagement strategy that will answer the question: How can we build meaningful opportunities for young people to shape their place in the region?

Heather Coston and Addie Shrodes will share the outcome of more than 75 workshops and conversations with jurisdictional partners, educators, community-based organizations and most importantly, youth. Heather Coston is the Project Manager for Metro’s Office of Public Engagement and has more than 15 years’ experience in community engagement, government relations and strategic communications. She is dedicated to inclusive and collaborative community engagement, firmly believes everyone should have a voice at the decision-making table and is committed to disrupting the status quo. Addie Shrodes is a culturally responsive communicator and educator with a passion for public engagement and social change. She has a master's degree in English education and urban humanities from UCLA. She is currently a Hatfield Fellow through the PSU Center for Public Service developing a youth engagement strategy for Metro.

No-host social to follow at Spirit of 77 (500 NE MLK).
