Indigenous Engagement Workshop: A New Relationship with Indigenous Peoples

This interactive pre-conference session will engage participants to consider and act on their role in building a new relationship with Indigenous Peoples. This session will take attendees through an experience of being participants (rather than leaders) in an important P2 process.

This P2 process is one of reconciliation that leads to a new relationship between Indigenous and all peoples. In this session, participants will develop their knowledge and understanding of the shared history of Indigenous and all people in North America, apply that new understanding to describe the current state of relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada and the US, and engage in a process to explore their own role (both professionally and personally) in improving that relationship to create a better future for us all.

Click to EnlargeThe Inside Story on Public Participation in Québec: Distinctive Practices Shaped by Citizen Mobilization

Through storytelling, key actors in citizen mobilization shared their take on important moments that shaped Québec’s collective history. Live presentations from guest speakers and multimedia materials followed the timeline of half a century, providing unique viewpoints on public participation practices that were born and evolved in response to citizen movements in Québec. Presentations were followed by discussions between P2 enthusiasts from Québec and IAP2 North American Conference participants from Canada and other countries worldwide. This conference was held mostly in French, and simultaneous translation was provided.
