In the age of YouTube, Livestreams, and Tik Tok, video content is king. This session will introduce simple-to-use tools to help you make impactful videos. Hear from engagement practitioners on how you can use video to introduce a public participation project, provide accessible background information, build interest and awareness, and report back on what you've accomplished.

About your presenter:
Susanna Haas Lyons, M.A., is a public engagement specialist who develops strategy and provides training for better conversations between the public and decision makers. She has about 20-years international leadership experience in designing, facilitating, managing and evaluating complex civic engagement efforts.
Susanna is an instructor with the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) as well as a post-secondary instructor for Simon Fraser University’s Dialogue and Civic Engagement certificate program and the Justice Institute of BC’s Center for Leadership. Her courses cover topics such as deliberative dialogue, digital engagement, evaluation, large scale engagement and more.

In the age of YouTube, Livestreams, and Tik Tok, video content is king. This session will introduce simple-to-use tools to help you make impactful videos. Hear from engagement practitioners on how you can use video to introduce a public participation project, provide accessible background information, build interest and awareness, and report back on what you’ve accomplished.
Beyond the audio and video set-up for hybrid events, how do we effectively collaborate among in-person and online participants? This workshop will let you explore tools that capture ideas, preferences, and support collaboration during hybrid events. Hear lessons learned from practitioners who are hosting hybrid public participation.
Improving digital usability for people with disabilities is critical for inclusion, and provides a better user experience for everyone. Learn what it looks like to apply an accessibility-first mindset in digital P2. Participants will leave with actionable tips to make accessibility improvements right away.
Is social media improving your public participation efforts? Learn how other engagement practitioners are measuring how social media impacts who’s involved, what input is being shared, and where public participation is happening. You'll also hear about tools to help manage roles and responses when using social media for P2.
