Storytelling: Practical tools to elevate public discourse

Studies have found that powerful stories impact our brains, the chemicals in our blood, and the choices we are influenced to make, while facts alone do little to change hearts and minds. In a quantity-saturated world with increasing polarity, stories can be used to raise the quality of public participation and foster compassion and understanding for different perspectives and experiences. Come learn about three different approaches and tools public involvement practitioners can use to center community voice through story. Participants will discuss some of their own experiences using story in community engagement, and leave with practical ideas and inspiration gathered from collective wisdom.
