Join the Greater Los Angeles Chapter (Emerging) for their April Meeting/Event:

"Cure for Public Outrage - Can we really 'inform' our way out of it?"

Have you ever had an angry member of the public yell at you or get in your face while you were in the middle of a community meeting? Did you ever think to yourself, “Gee, if only they understood the project as well as I do, then they might not be so upset?”

At first, confronting emotion with information seems like the right course of action. In practice, this is actually the worst thing to do. Come spend lunchtime with us next week and learn the ONE THING you should NOT be doing in community meetings.

Joshua Torres is a Government Affairs Representative with Southern California Edison and he’ll be sharing best practices for dealing with highly emotionally charged situations. In addition to representing SCE to local government agencies, Joshua previously developed public engagement strategies for several of SCE high profile transmission and substation projects. He has extensive experience engaging the public on contentious projects.
