IAP2 USA 2025-2027 Strategic Plan UpdateThank you to everyone who attended IAP2 USA’s Annual General Meeting on June 11th. We celebrated 2023 accomplishments and discussed our future direction. Members shared their ideas for the 2025-2027 Strategic Plan through small group discussions. This input, along with feedback from the Thought Exchange Strategic Plan survey, the 2023 Member Survey, DEI listening sessions, and other channels, will shape our future work. Key Themes:
In late June, the IAP2 USA board held a retreat to identify priorities, refine goals, and draft outcomes and strategies. The next steps include developing a draft plan to share with members. Thank you for all the valuable contributions to defining the work ahead! |
IAP2 USA Board of Directors 2025 Nominations Close August 15 IAP2 USA is looking for new leaders. Help set the direction of your expanding organization by nominating yourself or a colleague for board service. We are looking for candidates with a variety of professional expertise, cultural backgrounds, spectrum of life experiences, and geographic reach. This year’s board needs visionary and enthusiastic leaders intent on guiding the organization into the future. By serving on the IAP2 USA board of directors you will not only give back to your profession, you will develop leadership skills, and increase your knowledge and passion for the public participation practice. Greater Good Awards Honoring the Trailblazers and Future Leaders While the IAP2 Core Values Awards recognize the work done by organizations to advance P2, we are excited to offer two awards that honor individuals: Greater Good Awards are presented to individuals each year by the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) USA in recognition of excellence in the field of public participation in the United States. Nominees will have demonstrated outstanding leadership, service, and application of the IAP2 core values in the field of public participation. Candidates may be nominated by any IAP2 USA Member, Chapter or Committee. There are two categories of awards: (the same nomination form works for either of these awards)

IAP2 USA Welcomes New Staff Lauren Williams Welcome Lauren Williams! IAP2 USA is thrilled to introduce our new Membership and Chapters Manager, Lauren Williams. Lauren is an experienced association professional with over 15 years of experience in member relations, marketing, volunteer management and program development and execution. Her experience includes training and support for more than 50 national and international chapters, launched new membership programs, executed successful membership campaigns, and contributed to the development of monthly educational webinars, in-person leadership training, and the production of monthly member newsletters. A native of Chesapeake, VA, Lauren holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. She currently resides in Chesapeake, VA. Lauren is already hitting the ground running. She can be reached at membership@iap2usa.org. |
Join Us in Shaping the Future of IAP2's Spectrum by July 10 IAP2's Spectrum of Engagement has served as a foundational tool of public participation for decades. IAP2 International is now embarking on an exploration of whether the Spectrum would benefit from revisions to better serve the current state of the practice. IAP2-USA is seeking a small group of volunteers to support this review as well as engagement with our members. If you're passionate about advancing public participation practices and making a tangible impact, we encourage you to complete this form by July 10. IAP2's Understanding Conflict in Public Participation July 30 & 31
**Fundamentals of Public Participation is a prerequisite for this course. Take it July 23 & 24 if you haven't already.**
The aim of Understanding Conflict in P2/engagement is to help you understand, and more effectively manage, conflict dynamics. The focus of this Level 1 course will be on developing the skills of participants to identify and mitigate situations of tension and conflict within their P2/engagement work.
