Alex Cousins has been practicing community and stakeholder engagement since 1995. His diverse background includes leadership positions in the non-profit arena, private consulting and public sector. He has led community involvement, agency coordination, outreach and information programs and campaigns in the states of Oregon, Washington, Alaska, North Carolina and Tennessee.
Alex has extensive experience in the areas of transportation/transit planning, community development, parks and recreation, water/waste water, land use and natural resource conservation. He excels in communicating complicated issues using everyday language and the creative, inclusive approach to his P2 work has achieved results and recognition. Alex is a senior associate with EnviroIssues in their Portland office. EnviroIssues is the largest public involvement firm on the West Coast. He has been an IAP2 member since 2003 and is active in the Cascade Chapter, where he served as Chapter President from 2011 – 2015.
Alex is a graduate of the University of North Carolina system with degrees in Political Science (B.A., Chapel Hill, 1989) and Public Affairs (M.P.A., Greensboro, 1993). He has also completed coursework at Elon University and the University of London.
