IAP2 LEARNING WEBINAR: Core Values Award Winners-2 -- Leaders in Research
(Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 - 2pm EST)
Here is an opportunity to learn from two award-winning research projects in P2 -- one of which was honored by the entire IAP2 Federation -- and see how their accomplishments and experiences can apply to your own project!
We know that research is a vital component in the P2 profession, laying the groundwork for successful projects and meaningful outcomes. These two projects not only set a new standard for research, but have provided a voice for "ordinary" citizens in two fields often dominated by professionals.
The St Vrain Valley School District in Colorado received the IAP2 USA Core Values Award as Research Project of the Year for "Leadership St Vrain". This initiative gives parents more opportunity for input in the school system. Dr John Poynton, who launched the project, and Laura McDonald, one of the parents involved, will share how they "sold" the idea to the district and what the impact has been on public education.
At the IAP2 Australasian Conference in November, this project received the Core Values Award from the IAP2 Federation, beating out other projects from around the world.
Dr Julia Abelson of McMaster University led a pan-Canadian team to develop PPEET -- the Patient and Public Engagement Evaluation Tool. More and more health care systems are working towards including patients in decision-making, but how do you measure the success of those efforts? Dr Abelson and her team set out to come up with a way of doing that, and will describe what they did and how they accomplished it.
